The Sarasota/Manatee region is still plagued with one of the highest foreclosure rates in the country. The latest data from Realtytrac shows our region is 16th in the country for foreclosure. From this morning's article in the Herald Tribune by John Hielscher:
In September, lenders filed 995 foreclosure actions in Sarasota-Manatee, down 2.5 percent for the month but up 44 percent over the same period in 2013.
Experts say lenders have adjusted to new foreclosure requirements in Florida that slowed filings last year.
"September foreclosure activity was back to pre-housing bubble levels nationwide, in large part thanks to a continued slide in bank repossessions," said Daren Blomquist, a vice president at RealtyTrac.
There's no two ways about it - foreclosures will continue to remain high in this area for the foreseeable future. And with many former homeowners going through Post-Foreclosure Hell, it should be clear to anyone in foreclosure, or at risk, that they need to get good legal representation now. Protect yourself and your assets by contacting an attorney for help.
